Medical Cannabis has been legal in Washington since 1998, however there are new laws, regulations, and products for Medical Cannabis every year. The most recent news for Medical Cannabis Patients in Washington is the Excise Tax exemption on Department of Health (DOH) Compliant Products. DOH Compliant products have been around for years and several companies have always produced products that qualify as compliant. Department of Health Compliant products are tested for heavy metals along with all other state-required testing. All DOH Compliant products qualify into three categories; General Use, High THC, and High CBD. All DOH Compliant products will have a logo corresponding to which of the three categories they qualify for. There are several benefits for becoming a Medical Patient in Washington State. Medical Patients have three times the purchasing limit, they do not pay sales tax on cannabis products, and now patients do not pay Excise Tax on qualifying products. Medical Patients can shop at any Medical or Recreational dispensary but to receive the three times purchasing limit as well as the sales tax exemption the purchase must be made at a dispensary with their Medical Endorsement. The Sales Tax exemption qualifies for all cannabis products, however to receive the Excise Tax exemption patients must meet the following three requirements:

• Be a currently registered Medical Patient in Washington State with your Medical Card
• Be purchasing Department of Health Compliant Products
• The purchase must be made at a Medical Dispensary with their Medical Cannabis endorsement
